About
Mel Stride has been Shadow Chancellor under Kemi Badenoch since November 2024. An MP since 2010, he served as Work and Pensions Secretary from 2022 to 2024 and earlier chaired the Treasury Select Committee.
He fronts the Conservatives' fiscal offer — the “golden economic rule” funding stamp duty abolition — and the “First Job Bonus”, which would redirect young workers' first £5,000 of National Insurance toward a home deposit.
