About
Nigel Farage has shaped three decades of British politics from outside the traditional parties: leading UKIP twice, founding the Brexit Party, and taking Reform UK to the top of the national polls. He became MP for Clacton in July 2024.
On 7 July 2026 he resigned as an MP amid a row over political donations — the new rules are widely seen in Reform as aimed at the party — triggering a by-election on 13 August that he says he will fight. Reform's platform pairs large tax cuts (a £20,000 personal allowance, stamp duty and corporation tax cuts) with scrapping net zero and a five-year deportation programme; analysts contest the arithmetic, which we examine in “Reform: the money”.
