About
Pat McFadden is one of Labour's most trusted operators: an MP since 2005, he ran the party's 2024 election campaign as national campaign coordinator, then ran the Cabinet Office as Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster before becoming Work and Pensions Secretary in September 2025.
That job puts him at the centre of the hardest calls of the next year: the response to the Timms Review of PIP, the fallout from the incorrect state pension forecasts, and the welfare bill Andy Burnham says he wants to bring down. He is also named in the frame for Chancellor.
