Robert Jenrick

Reform UK Treasury spokesperson · MP for Newark

About

Robert Jenrick is the biggest defection in Reform UK's history. A Conservative cabinet minister (Housing Secretary 2019–21) and the immigration minister who resigned in December 2023 over the Rwanda bill, he ran Kemi Badenoch close in the 2024 leadership contest, taking 43.5% of the members' vote.

On 15 January 2026 Badenoch sacked him from the shadow cabinet and removed the whip, saying she had uncovered his plan to defect; he joined Reform UK and was appointed the party's Treasury spokesperson on 17 February 2026. He now fronts the tax platform whose arithmetic we examine in “Reform: the money”.
